Geldhauser expands fleet with ten new interurban Setra S 515 LE buses

The fleet of Geldhauser Linien- und Reiseverkehr GmbH & Co. KG, based in Hofolding (Bavaria, Germany), has recently been rejuvenated with ten brand-new Setra S 515 LE interurban buses from the MultiClass range. The low-entry, two-axle vehicles, with a 1-2-0 door configuration, will mainly be seen on roads south of Munich.

Nine of the ten buses recently handed over have been fitted with 45 passenger seats, namely the raised, fixed-back Inter Star Eco seats also familiar from sister brand Mercedes-Benz’s suburban and interurban models. These vehicles will enter service on various routes in the Starnberg district within the network of the Münchner Verkehrs- und Tarifverbund GmbH (MVV) transport association. The remaining vehicle, delivered by Setra with 43 passenger seats and an enlarged special-use area, will operate as part of the Alpenbus fleet. For the first time, a direct express bus service will link the regions south of Munich with the towns of Murnau, Penzberg, Bad Tölz, Miesbach and Rosenheim along the Alpine corridor, eliminating the need to travel through the metropolitan area.

Regarding the specification of the buses, the manufacturer did not provide technical data this time, instead focusing mainly on the safety equipment. Accordingly, all ten vehicles are equipped with Daimler Buses’ latest safety and driver assistance systems to provide the highest possible level of protection for occupants, including functions such as Sideguard Assist 2, the blind-spot monitoring turn assistance system. This system monitors the areas outside the driver’s field of vision on both sides of the vehicle and, if necessary, warns of moving obstacles appearing there when changing lanes or turning.

Founded in 1962, Geldhauser Linien- und Reiseverkehr is today one of Germany’s largest private operators, with a current bus fleet of around 890 vehicles. The fleet ranges from minibuses to luxury touring coaches, serving numerous municipalities, companies, associations and schools in addition to the company’s own travel programme and scheduled services operated on behalf of MVV. “Alongside state-of-the-art safety technology, strong residual values also play an important role in our purchasing decisions, and Setra buses remain in very high demand on the used market even after they leave our fleet” – said Martin Geldhauser, managing director of the family-owned company, outlining the economic and quality considerations that have led the operator to choose Setra products for many years.
