Stanglmeier acquires 20 new Iveco Crossway LEs for the start of the school year

Bavarian operator Stanglmeier Reisebüro und Bustouristik GmbH & Co. KG has expanded its fleet with twenty 12-metre Iveco Crossway Low Entry buses ahead of the start of the new school year. The brand-new vehicles will be operated on the Verkehrsverbund Großraum Ingolstadt (VGI) transport network serving the Ingolstadt area. 

The official handover ceremony for the fleet was held on 12 September at Stanglmeier’s headquarters in Mainburg, in the presence of delegates from Iveco Bus and AGK Truck & Bus, the brand’s local sales and after-sales representative. Despite being low-entry vehicles in the City version with a 1-2-0 door arrangement, the buses will primarily be used on regional services and as school buses. According to reports, Iveco Bus delivered the 20-strong batch by July, just a few months after the order was placed, enabling Stanglmeier to prepare for the fleet’s entry into service under optimal conditions, well ahead of the start of the school term in Bavaria and the planned launch into operation. The schedule made it possible to complete all the necessary work, including the installation of onboard equipment and the application of VGI’s corporate identity elements.

Configured to VGI’s requirements and finished in its fleet livery, the buses are equipped with 43 fixed passenger seats, complemented by two additional folding seats in the platform area opposite the second door. The specification also includes onboard WiFi, USB charging sockets for passengers’ mobile devices, interior passenger-information TFT monitors, luggage racks and an automatic passenger counting system. The versatile Iveco Crossway range, which by sales figures is Europe’s most popular interurban bus family, is celebrating the twentieth anniversary of its market launch this year, an occasion we marked in this article.
