More than 45 licensed buses await players in Bus Simulator 27
For bus enthusiasts, the Bus Simulator series has in recent years offered one of the best ways to try out different buses from around the world in a virtual environment. Bus Simulator 27, developed by Simteract and published by astragon Entertainment GmbH, however, promises to be the most ambitious sequel yet. The developers have not only significantly expanded the vehicle line-up, but are also preparing a more detailed game world, new game modes and a cooperative multiplayer option. The game will be released on September 8, 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles.
Bus Simulator 27 features the largest and most modern bus fleet in the history of the series to date. Players will be able to take the wheel of more than 45 officially licensed buses from the ranges of 13 well-known manufacturers. Alongside models from Mercedes-Benz, MAN, Solaris, Iveco Bus, Ebusco, Hess, Safra, Irizar, Scania, Volvo and Alexander Dennis, the various vehicle categories are of course also represented. In addition to conventional solo and articulated city buses, as well as double-deck, gas-powered, fuel-cell and electric types, coaches will be drivable for the first time in the history of the series, meaning players will be able to put their driving skills to the test not only on urban routes, but also over longer distances.
The game is set in Felicia Bay, a fictional southern European region inspired by the atmosphere of Spain and Portugal. The two major cities, Alcaztelar and Mequina, together with more than twenty different districts, offer a varied environment with numerous landmarks and highly detailed streets. The game is built on the Unreal Engine 5 graphics engine, bringing a major technological step forward for the series. More richly detailed surroundings, more advanced lighting and shadow effects, more realistic reflections, dynamic weather and a day-night cycle create a more lifelike virtual environment for bus driving than ever before.
At the same time, Bus Simulator 27 is far from being only about driving buses. Players can build their own public transport company: they can plan routes and timetables, hire bus drivers and assign services, while also personalising their fleet with custom liveries and advertising graphics. The developers’ aim is for managing the transport company to play at least as important a role as the driving itself.
The game offers three different modes. Story mode provides a narrative-driven experience, Career mode focuses on gradually building up a transport company, while Sandbox mode gives complete freedom to those who want to drive buses without any restrictions. During driving, players will also have to deal with a variety of traffic situations and unexpected events, but they can also explore the city as passengers, or even try their hand as ticket inspectors.
A new feature is the cooperative multiplayer mode for up to four players, in which players can jointly operate their transport company, coordinate the organisation of services and manage the bus fleet together. On PC, thanks to Mod.io support, players will also be able to download various community-made add-ons, allowing them to expand the game with new buses, custom liveries, new routes and various gameplay modifications, for example. In addition, Bus Simulator 27 supports numerous steering wheels and controllers.
