Setra models continue to enjoy great popularity among wealthier European private operators. This time, the premium manufacturer based in Neu-Ulm, belonging to the Daimler Buses group<\/a>, reported on the delivery of luxury long-distance coaches to two loyal Swiss family businesses, G\u00f6ssi Carreisen and Zerzuben Touristik.<\/strong><\/p>\n

G\u00f6ssi Carreisen AG, founded in 1975 by Xaver and Verena G\u00f6ssi, is headquartered in the small town of Horw, located on the shores of Lake Lucerne in the canton of the same name. The company purchased its first Setra coach four years after its establishment, and this year celebrates its 50th anniversary, in honor of which it recently expanded its fleet with a TopClass Setra S 531 DT double-decker long-distance coach. The uniquely styled vehicle bears the signature of the company’s founder, Xaver G\u00f6ssi, who passed away in 2013 and who created the style of the company’s previous similar vehicles. The distinctive decoration is echoed in many places in the passenger area, including the mini-kitchen furniture and the windscreen partition in the stairwell on the upper level.<\/p>\n

The spectacular double-decker coach has a total of 78 seats and two four-person club tables on the lower level, while a panoramic glass roof on the upper level enhances the travel experience. The newly received S 531 DT is the first vehicle in the G\u00f6ssi Carreisen fleet equipped with the MirrorCam camera system, which replaces traditional external rear-view mirrors. Among the active safety features built into the bus, the manufacturer\u2019s press release highlights the intelligent traffic sign and speed recognition assistant (Traffic Sign Assist), which reliably identifies speed limit signs on European roads despite different formats per country and warns the driver in case of speeding. G\u00f6ssi Carreisen currently operates a total of 17 Setra buses across Europe.<\/p>\n

It is worth mentioning that several Hungarian private operators, such as Infinitours-Busz.hu<\/a> and HCC Kft.<\/a>, have also purchased the Setra double-decker flagship model this year, and we plan to report on another domestic acquisition soon.<\/p>\n

Returning to Switzerland, another local private operator, Zerzuben Touristik AG, recently expanded its fleet with a brand new Setra coach, a Setra S 516 HD with light blue decor on a lacquer black finish. The ComfortClass series, 13,115 mm long three-axle tourist coach, has 48 passenger seats with a generous 830 mm seat pitch, and also features a kitchen counter equipped with a coffee maker. The operating company’s leader, Marco Zerzuben, will take delivery of three more similar units in Neu-Ulm in the coming weeks. The family business, founded in 1966 and based in Eyholz (Canton of Valais, Switzerland), currently operates an 18-vehicle fleet consisting exclusively of Setra models, with services utilized by schools, companies, and sports clubs for domestic and international travel.<\/p>\n
