Daimler Buses will introduce the new technologies detailed below on its Mercedes-Benz and Setra long-distance models from 2027.\u003C\u002Fstrong>\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp style=\"text-align: justify\">The coaches currently offered by Daimler Buses are fairly mature products: the ComfortClass product line of the Setra S 500 generation has been on the market since 2012, the Mercedes-Benz Travego was last updated in 2016, and one year later it was joined in the range by the current generation of the Mercedes-Benz Tourismo and the flagship Setra S 531 DT double-deck coach, followed in autumn 2021 by the \u003Ca href=\"https:\u002F\u002Fmagyarbusz.info\u002F2021\u002F10\u002F10\u002Fvadonatuj-turistabusszal-keszul-amerika-meghoditasara-a-mercedes-benz\u002F\">Mercedes-Benz Tourrider for the North American market\u003C\u002Fa>. Since then, the group has kept its broad model range up to date and \u003Ca href=\"https:\u002F\u002Fmagyarbusz.info\u002F2022\u002F09\u002F29\u002Fa-daimler-truck-ag-ujdonsagai-az-idei-iaa-rol-foszerepben-az-e-mobilitas-es-a-biztonsag\u002F\">at the forefront of the category through continuous development\u003C\u002Fa>. According to the manufacturer, the further developed Mercedes-Benz OM 470 and OM 471 six-cylinder diesel engines being introduced with the latest update are more efficient and more durable than their predecessors. The diesel particulate filter and the SCR system that reduces nitrogen oxide emissions have received a newly developed coating, increasing the robustness of the entire exhaust aftertreatment system, while the engines’ fuel consumption has also been reduced thanks to an optimised combustion process. Depending on the model, the power units are paired with either the new ZF EcoLife CoachLine automatic transmission or the ZF TraXon 2 Coach automated manual transmission. The former is offered for the Mercedes-Benz Tourismo RHD, the raised-floor Mercedes-Benz Travego SHD series that remains reserved exclusively for Turkish customers, and the Setra S 531 DT double-decker, while the single-deck models of the Setra ComfortClass and TopClass series are fitted exclusively with the latter driveline unit. As a result of the improvements, Daimler Buses promises a 4% reduction in diesel consumption for the 10.7-litre OM 470 engine, and up to 6% for the larger, 12.8-litre OM 471 unit. AdBlue consumption has also been significantly reduced – the extent of this likewise depends on the selected power unit, reaching 9% in the case of the OM 471. The engines already meet the technical requirements needed to comply with the future Euro VII emissions standard, and also comply with the strictest European regulations on noise emissions. A major step forward is the new electronic architecture, which lays the foundation for linking advanced driver assistance systems with digital services. Thanks to so-called \u003Cem>over-the-air\u003C\u002Fem> updates, the vehicle’s software systems can also be kept up to date wirelessly via the mobile network, with the operator determining when the updates take place. The main advantage of the solution is that many updates no longer require a workshop visit, which helps improve the two most important economic indicators for operators: reducing downtime and increasing availability. In addition, the new architecture creates further opportunities to use future digital services on the OMNIplus ON platform. This already provides subscribers with up-to-date navigation data and real-time traffic information to support more efficient and predictable operation. One example is the real-time safety service called \u003Cstrong>Connected Traffic Warnings\u003C\u002Fstrong>, which detects data relating to road hazards and then shares it via a cloud-based platform with nearby connected vehicles.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>\u003Ca href=\"https:\u002F\u002Fmedia.magyarbusz.info\u002F2026\u002F09\u002F26DT154_008_cikkbe.jpg\">\u003Cimg loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-96468\" src=\"https:\u002F\u002Fmedia.magyarbusz.info\u002F2026\u002F09\u002F26DT154_008_cikkbe.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"467\" title=\"\" \u002F>\u003C\u002Fa>\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp style=\"text-align: justify\">New active safety and driver assistance systems are also being introduced, increasing both comfort and safety during journeys. One new feature is the new-generation radar-based blind spot monitoring and turning assistance system called \u003Cstrong>Active Sideguard Assist 3\u003C\u002Fstrong>, which monitors both sides of the vehicle and now also the area in front of it, helping the driver prevent accidents when turning and changing lanes. In hazardous situations, the latest version no longer only warns the driver – first visually, then with both visual and acoustic alerts – but, if necessary, also intervenes with targeted braking to help avoid a collision. Also capable of acting independently is the \u003Cstrong>Active Cross Traffic Assist\u003C\u002Fstrong> function, which uses cameras and radar sensors to monitor crossing traffic and, if needed, initiates braking at an early stage. \u003Cstrong>Active Drive Assist 2\u003C\u002Fstrong> (ADA 2) reduces the driver’s workload by controlling speed, following distance and lane keeping, which Daimler Buses says is particularly useful on scheduled interurban and long-distance services. The safety package is completed by \u003Cstrong>Electronic Park Brake Control\u003C\u002Fstrong> (ePBC) and \u003Cstrong>Active Power Steering 3\u003C\u002Fstrong> (APS3): the former makes securing the vehicle more convenient and safer, while the latter automatically adjusts the level of steering assistance to the current driving situation and vehicle speed, making manoeuvring easier and improving handling.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>\u003Ca href=\"https:\u002F\u002Fmedia.magyarbusz.info\u002F2026\u002F09\u002F26DT154_006_cikkbe.jpg\">\u003Cimg loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-96470\" src=\"https:\u002F\u002Fmedia.magyarbusz.info\u002F2026\u002F09\u002F26DT154_006_cikkbe.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"467\" title=\"\" \u002F>\u003C\u002Fa>\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp style=\"text-align: justify\">The driver’s workplace has also undergone significant development. The new driver environment, named Multimedia Cockpit Interactive, supports comfortable working and simpler operation and control of the vehicle and infotainment systems with a tablet-like high-resolution digital central instrument cluster and touchscreen, as well as a newly developed multifunction steering wheel. Although physical buttons remain on the dashboard, the menu system allows individual favourites to be set, making it easier to access the most frequently used functions quickly; some functions can even be voice-controlled – a capability that is now appearing on \u003Ca href=\"https:\u002F\u002Fmagyarbusz.info\u002F2026\u002F08\u002F19\u002Fuj-fejlesztesu-tavolsagi-minibuszt-mutatott-be-az-ankai\u002F\">an increasing number of coach models\u003C\u002Fa> worldwide. Based on the images released by Daimler Buses, the new control panel, which has a cleaner look than before and stylistically somewhat recalls today’s Mercedes-Benz passenger cars, will be essentially identical in the Mercedes-Benz models and the Setra ComfortClass series, with the badge in the centre of the steering wheel virtually the only difference. According to its creators, the new system connects the vehicle, the bus driver and digital services more closely than before, making day-to-day work more efficient.
